FAQS

  • Yes. We are accepting new clients. We have day time and some evening appointments available.

We offer virtual sessions via secure + private online video-conferencing for clients in California who are not in close proximity to meet in person or who have a preference for virtual meetings.

Extended length sessions and/or sessions more than once a week are considered depending on the needs of the couple/individual. Please inquire directly about availabilities and pricing.

  • As we enter into our work together we will outline session length and frequency specific to your unique needs. This may be adjusted as our work goes on and needs change.

Weekly sessions are generally 50-minutes in length.

We often suggest weekly sessions until goals are met or longer intensives, as needed.

75-minute sessions, every other week are for those who are willing to dive deep, and get work done.

  • Fees vary according to therapist and their availability as well as amount of extended training and years in the field. We offer a variety of session lengths as well depending on needs of the couple/individual.

50-minute sessions range from $150 - $250 depending on clinician and service requested.

Longer sessions, half-day intensives, and weekend workshops are available.

  • The full fee for your session is collected at the time of service via cash, credit card, debit card, or FSA/HSA. We can also securely record a debit or credit card so you will not have to take time for payment during your session. I do not bill for services, or carry account balances.

  • No. We do not accept insurance as we find that often directs the duration and type of therapy we are able to provide. All services are private pay (meaning you are responsible for full payment at the time of service.)

  • Sessions are 50 – 75 min long, but we can negotiate a longer time if schedules allow. The 1st session is an assessment where we gather background information from you and your partner. The 2nd and 3rd sessions, usually meet with partners individually to understand your relationship histories. Starting the fourth session, we bring couples back together again to track your interaction patterns. There may be times we might request to meet individually with one or both of you again if issues come up that impact your ability to feel safe and vulnerable in the relationship.

  • We provide both individual and couple counseling. It is almost always best when couples come to sessions together and this is a strong recommendation. If you have a concern for your relationship and your partner is reluctant or unwilling to come, it is possible to make changes on your own. A systemic approach recognizes that changes in one part of the system will affect the rest of the system.

  • Most insurance plans do not cover couples counseling. However, it’s best that you contact your insurance company directly to learn about your mental health/behavioral health benefits. You can ask specifically about “couples counseling”. We can provide a "super bill" in case your insurance provider does elect to reimburse you.

  • In cases where it is difficult for one or both partners to make it to weekly sessions, we offer a more intense option of treatment sometimes known as “intensive couples therapy”. This is usually TWO back-to-back 50-min sessions with a 15-min break in between.

  • If you do not show up for your appointment, and you have not notified our office 48 hours in advance, you will be expected to pay for the cost of the missed session. The fee for services is waived if you need to cancel due to an emergency.

  • Having a team of therapy experts affords us to offer a variety of session times. We are open Monday through Saturday and have evening and day time appointments available. Longer intensive sessions can be reserved on some weekends.

  • The laws concerning confidentiality in California are very clear: What you choose to share with a therapist is confidential as long as the therapist does not suspect certain dangerous conditions. When clients share information about child abuse, elder abuse, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation or if the client is gravely disabled and cannot care for themselves the law states that as a mandated reporter we are required to report the situation to the proper authorities.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
